Makinde Adeniran, a Fellow of Theatre Arts (fta) is one of Nigeriaʼs few new age true dramatists who has practiced the theatre/film trade almost everywhere in the world, and has won few awards both in Nigeria and abroad for his practice and arts. Makinde, trained at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife Osun State as an arts director and an actor, has been a member of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners right from the start of formation of NANTAP and other prominent professional associations across the globe: Actorʼs equity, Federation of International Actors, etc. Over the years, he has served in several committees of NANTAP both in the Lagos State and National Executive Councils as Director of Productions and Screening in 1998 and 2004 respectively. During his professional practice through the years, Makinde has directed several notable plays/films such as: DEATH AND THE KINGʼS HORSEMAN, FENCES, GODS ARE NOT TO BLAME, A RESTING PLACE (FESTINA 2004), WHOʼS AFRAID OF SOLARIN (ITD 2001), JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNI-COLOR DREAM COAT, SANGO, SARO THE MUSICAL, ETC. In the same stride, Makinde has worked with reputable organizations as a Writer (BBC media action, Revue Noir, Paris France), as a Broadcaster (Editor, NN24 Television, Consultant, Silverbird Television), as an Actor (West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds UK, Nawao Productions, Zurich Switzerland, Mutation Project Germany, National Troupe, Nigeria, etc) For over 25 years, Makinde has put in a robust practice and activism towards uplifting the association – NANTAP and the Nigerian entertainment and culture industry for which he cuts the image of an “agent provocateur”. For him, the Nigerian practice terrain is not in anyway commensurate to the natural talents that abound in the Nation, and the government policy and institutions are not helping the government to profit from a possible IGR from the sector. For this reason Makinde believes the Nigerian populace are grossly shortchanged of a possible corporate social responsibility that adds to every nation of the world where human capacity is seen as a veritable tool for diversification of economy into cultural, educational and financial growth.[/us_person]
